Plumber in Finsbury Park
A leak dripping through from the flat above, a toilet overflowing in a Stroud Green conversion, or no water at all in a block off Seven Sisters Road? Call 07861 933265 or send us a photo on WhatsApp. No call-out fee, someone picks up day or night, and we usually reach N4 within 60 minutes.
First, find the valve: in a house split into flats there may be one stopcock for the whole building, often in the hall or the basement. In a council or housing association block, the main valve may be locked in a riser cupboard: ring the caretaker or the out-of-hours repairs line as well as us.
Victorian suburb, two boroughs
Finsbury Park grew up around a station that opened in 1861 and a park that opened in 1869. The fields once called Stroud Green filled with Victorian terraces and Gothic and Arts and Crafts villas for the middle classes, and Stroud Green Road still marks the line between Islington and Haringey. Most of those houses are now two, three or four flats.
Conversions are where most N4 call-outs start: a bathroom added on each floor, pipes run through ceilings that were never meant to carry them, and one supply for several households. A slow leak in a top-floor flat often shows up first as a stain two floors down. If it is already through the plaster, see water through the ceiling.
The post-war blocks
The railway made the area a target in the Second World War, and bombed streets were rebuilt as council flats: Hornsey council put up 25 blocks of flats between 1947 and 1960. Blocks of that age have shared risers, tanks and long pipe runs, and a fault on one floor can leave several flats without water.
Flats over the shops
Above the shops, cafés and restaurants on Stroud Green Road, Seven Sisters Road and Blackstock Road, flats often share a drain and a stack with the business below. Grease narrows the drain, and the flat upstairs is the first to back up.
Rate and nearby

Questions people ask
Water is coming through our ceiling from the flat upstairs and they are not answering. What now?
Turn off your own stopcock only if the leak is from your pipes. If it is coming from above, the shared valve for the building or the upstairs flat's own stopcock is what stops it, so check the hall, the basement and the meter cupboard. Call us, and if you can, call or message the neighbour and the landlord or managing agent too.
Our flat is in one of the post-war blocks. Who looks after the pipes?
Usually the pipes inside your flat are yours or your landlord's, and the risers, tanks and main stopcock belong to the block. If the leak is in a communal pipe we make it safe and tell you who needs to be told, so the repair is charged to the right person.
We are above a shop on Stroud Green Road and the sink keeps backing up. Why?
Flats over shops and restaurants often share a drain with the business below, and grease from a kitchen narrows it over time. Clearing it fixes today's blockage; if it keeps coming back, a camera shows where it narrows and whose section it is.
What do you charge in N4?
There is no call-out fee. It is £110 for the first hour and £45 for every half hour after that, plus parts, whatever the time.
