What you get

High-pressure drain jetting in London: what the price includes

  • 01
    Correct heads for the job

Cutting heads for roots, descaling heads for scale, flush heads for silt, matched to pipe material and condition.

  • 02
    Gullies, stacks and runs

External gullies, downpipes and full runs to the boundary and beyond.

  • 03
    Camera-checked where it matters

Recurring blockages get a look after clearing, so you know whether it's done or merely postponed.

  • 04
    Planned maintenance

Restaurants and rentals on a jetting schedule stop having drain emergencies, see commercial.

  • 05
Pressure matched to the pipe, not to the blockage

A 4,000 psi jet through fragile Victorian clay or a pitch-fibre run can do real damage. We set pressure and nozzle to what the pipe can take, which is why we camera first on older London drainage rather than simply opening the valve.

What this means in London

Local conditions we work around

Most of London still drains through Victorian infrastructure, much of it combined sewers carrying foul and surface water in the same pipe. Two consequences follow. Heavy rain can surcharge the system and push water back up through the lowest gully in a property, which is why some basements flood in a storm without any blockage at all. And the older clay runs beneath gardens and pavements have joints that tree roots find, so root intrusion is one of the most common things our cameras record.

Straight answers

High-pressure drain jetting in London, your questions

Rodding cleared it before, why jet now?
Because it's back. Rodding pierces a blockage; jetting removes what it was made of. For grease and scale the hole closes within weeks, the third callout costs more than one jet.
Is jetting safe for old clay pipes?
At the right pressure with the right head, yes, and far kinder than mechanical force. Where a run is known-fragile we camera-check first rather than guessing.
What does jetting cost?
From £190 per visit for a domestic run, quoted before starting. Combined jet-plus-survey pricing available when the history says something is wrong down there.
Can jetting damage my drains?
Not at appropriate pressure in sound pipework. It can break up a run that is already failing, but a pipe that a jet destroys was days from collapsing anyway, and finding that out with a camera in the hole is better than finding out in a flood.
How long will it stay clear?
If the cause was fat or silt and nothing changes, a year or two. If it was root intrusion, the roots return and the honest answer is a repair or a lining rather than a jetting subscription. We tell you which one yours is.
Is it messy?
Contained. Work happens at the inspection chamber with mats down, and everything is flushed to the sewer rather than across the garden. On a shared run in a terrace we agree access with the neighbour before starting rather than during.
Is London drainage different?
Much of it is Victorian, and a great deal of it is combined, foul and surface water in the same pipe. Two things follow: heavy rain can surcharge the system and push water back up the lowest gully in a property with no blockage present at all, and the old clay runs under gardens and pavements have joints that tree roots find. Root intrusion is one of the most common things our cameras record here.
