Questions people ask
What does an emergency plumber cost?
£99 for the first hour and £49 for each half hour after that, plus the cost of any parts. There is no call-out charge. The full rate card is on our prices page.
Is it dearer at night, at weekends or on bank holidays?
No. The rate is the same at 3am on a bank holiday as it is on a weekday afternoon.
Do I pay anything just for you turning up?
No. There is no call-out charge. You pay for the time on the job and any parts you agreed to.
When do I find out the price of the job?
Once the engineer has found the fault, and before any work starts. You get the price in writing, and if a part has to be ordered, you agree its cost first.
How quickly can you get to me?
Usually within 60 minutes. When you call, we give you a time for your postcode, and if we cannot reach you quickly we say so on the call.
Which areas do you cover?
All of London and the towns around the M25. Every area has its own page in our area list, and you can check your postcode there.
Is someone really there 24 hours a day?
Yes. The line is answered at any hour by someone who can send an engineer, not by a message service.
I can smell gas. What should I do?
Call the National Gas Emergency Service first on 0800 111 999, free and open 24 hours. Leave the building, don't use light switches or anything that could spark, and open doors and windows if it is safe to.
Water is pouring out of a pipe. What do I do while I wait?
Turn the water off at the stopcock (often under the kitchen sink), switch off the electrics at the consumer unit if water is near sockets or lights, then open the cold taps to drain the pipes. Our burst pipe page has the full steps.
Do your engineers do gas work?
No. We do no gas work of any kind: no boilers, gas appliances, gas pipework or gas certificates. Gas jobs belong with a gas engineer. If you smell gas, call 0800 111 999.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months, and a return visit under the guarantee costs nothing.
Can I send you a photo first?
Please do. Send it on WhatsApp to 07861 933265 and we can often tell you what is wrong, and what to bring, before anyone sets off.
Do you do planned work as well as emergencies?
Yes: bathrooms and drainage surveys, booked around your diary. See plumbing, heating and drainage.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We look after landlords, letting agents, pubs, restaurants, hotels and offices. See our commercial plumbing page.
