Almost never. A running toilet is a £15–£40 internal part, fitted within our £95–£150 repair band. Replacement is for cracked pans, obsolete cisterns and style choices, not drips.
What does a new toilet cost fitted?
From £180 fit-only on a straightforward swap, from about £320 supplied and fitted with a solid mid-range unit. Wall-hung frames quoted after a look at the wall.
Can you match my old close-coupled cistern?
Sometimes, discontinued cisterns are the one genuine reason a repair becomes a replacement. We check part availability before quoting either way.
My toilet keeps running, is that expensive?
No. It is nearly always the flush valve or the fill valve, both inexpensive parts, and both replaceable in one visit. Worth doing quickly though, a running toilet can waste several hundred litres a day and in a metered London property that shows up on the bill.
Can I have a wall-hung toilet?
Yes, on a supporting frame within a stud or a false wall. It looks excellent and cleans easily. The one thing to insist on is an access panel to the cistern, because a concealed cistern with no access turns a small repair into demolition.
The flush is weak, new toilet needed?
Usually not. Weak flush is commonly a partly blocked rim, a fill valve set too low, or a siphon that has perished. All three are cheaper than a new suite and we check them before recommending one.
