Radiator installation in London: what the price includes
- Sized to the room. BTU calculated from the actual room, glazing, walls, volume, not matched to whatever hung there before.
- Moves and swaps. Pipework rerouted neatly for furniture layouts; drops chased or boxed as you prefer.
- Designer and column options. Vertical, column and towel radiators supplied or fit-only.
- TRVs as standard. Thermostatic valves on every install, room-by-room control is the cheapest heating efficiency there is.
- Sized on the room’s heat loss, not on the wall space. A radiator is specified in watts, calculated from room volume, external walls, glazing and insulation. Choosing one because it fits the space under the window is how rooms end up permanently cool. We calculate it, then find something that fits.

Adding radiators in a London property usually runs into the original pipe sizing. Houses subdivided into flats, and systems extended over decades, frequently reach the point where the existing circuit simply cannot carry another emitter, so the honest answer is sometimes a pipework alteration rather than another radiator teed off the nearest run. In conservation areas and listed interiors, where the pipe can be routed is a real constraint that gets settled before the radiator is chosen.

What does a new radiator cost fitted?
There is no call-out charge. It is £110 for the first hour, then £45 for each additional half hour, plus the cost of parts, and the same at any hour of the day or night.
One room never gets warm, bigger radiator?
Sometimes. Just as often the radiator is fine and the system is unbalanced, or the TRV head has failed. We check the cheap causes before selling you steel.
Can you fit a radiator I've bought?
Yes, fit-only, with the same sizing sanity-check first. A beautiful vertical radiator with half the required output stays beautiful and cold.
Can I move a radiator to another wall?
Usually yes. How disruptive it is depends on whether the pipework can be reached from below or has to be chased into the wall. Both are routine; the survey tells you which one your floor allows before you commit.
Are designer radiators worth it?
They look excellent and many are genuinely well made, but output per square metre is often lower than a standard panel, so the sizing calculation matters more, not less. We will tell you if the one you like cannot heat the room it is going in.
Do I need to drain the whole system?
For a single radiator swap, usually not, we freeze the pipework either side and change it locally. For several, draining down is quicker and lets us add inhibitor properly on refill, which is worth doing anyway.
