What this covers in Manchester

From a blocked sink to a collapsed run under the garden. Everything starts with establishing where the problem actually is and, just as importantly, whose drain it legally is, because since 2011 a great deal of the pipework people pay to have fixed belongs to the water company.

Questions we get asked
Whose drain is it?
Since October 2011, drains shared with another property and the lateral drain beyond your boundary transferred to the water and sewerage company. What remains yours is the pipework inside your boundary serving only your property. Our camera survey establishes which is which in writing, and if it is theirs we tell you.
Do I need a camera survey?
For a first-time blockage with an obvious cause, no. For anything that has blocked more than once, for a property purchase, or for an insurance claim, yes, it is the difference between clearing a symptom repeatedly and fixing a cause once.
Can a blocked drain be an emergency?
If waste water is backing up into the property or the only toilet is unusable, absolutely, and we attend 24/7. A slow gully or a gurgling sink can wait for a booked slot, and we will say so rather than charging emergency rates for it.
Will you have to dig up the garden?
Usually not. Most defects our cameras find can be jetted, patch-lined or fully lined from an existing access point with no excavation at all. Digging is for genuine collapses, and where it is needed we locate first so the hole is a metre wide rather than exploratory.
What this means in Greater Manchester

Local conditions we work around

Manchester drainage is Victorian industrial infrastructure serving housing built for mill workers, and the pattern shows. Terraces frequently share rear drainage runs, so a blockage is often the neighbour's rather than yours and the first job is establishing whose it is before anyone gets a bill. The original salt-glazed clay is still in the ground across much of the city, which means displaced joints and root intrusion, and the hillside districts add long shallow runs that silt up.
